Mercy Greater Than Wrath
What Allah wrote about Himself.

What if the Judge you fear has already told you which way He leans?
“When Allah created the creation, He wrote in His Book — and He wrote about Himself, and it is placed with Him on the Throne — 'Indeed, My mercy prevails over My wrath.'”
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
- Qur'anQur'an 39:53
Explanation
Islam takes judgement seriously — and places it beneath this. Every chapter of the Qur'an but one opens by naming Allah the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. Fear in Islam is real, but it is the fear of someone who knows the Judge wants to forgive. That is why despair is forbidden. There is no sin too large for the door to be closed.
